Paging Dr. Manning

We're proud to announce that Steven was chosen by his fellow residents and staff as the new co-chief resident of Family Medicine along with Dr. David Bica. This is a huge honor for Steven and I am so proud of him. It comes with great responsibility and the priveledge of representing the residents of ECU Family Medicine. What a wonderful 30th birthday gift (that's right he got voted in yesterday on his 30th birthday). Congratulations Dr. Manning!!!

9 month check-up

They love to look at books now and not just eat them.(I love that she's looking at the tractor)

Meredith loves her brother, she doesn't want to share him with anyone.

The twins had their 9 month dr's visit today. We were so eager to learn how much they had grown since their last visit. Berkley now weighs 20lbs 11 1/2 oz and is 29 1/8 inches long. Meredith weighs 17lbs 11 3/4 oz and is 28 inches long. We were very pleased with their weights and to hear the doctor say we had very healthy children! They've done so much changing in just a matter of weeks, it's like they've just blossomed. Meredith will say bye-bye and wave anytime you put a coat on. They both are showing a great interest in books, whereas before they only wanted to chew on them. I keep them caged in the living room, not really caged, just surrounded by baby gates, otherwise I couldn't get anything done. Berkley has sadly outgrown the jumper. I knew he'd outgrown it when he knocked the fire alarm off of the wall. Berkley's nearly outgrown his 9 month clothes and Meredith is finally growing into 9 months. Berkley hasn't gotten any new teeth, his grand total is 6 at the moment. Meredith is still toothless and boy do I love that gummy smile. They both have so much personality now. Meredith likes to swipe Berkley's toys and thankfully Berkley lets her. I feel sorry for her when he figures out that he's bigger than she is. Meredith is a bit of a show off, she love attention and loves to do all her tricks for me when she wakes up in the morning while I'm changing her diaper. She starts by playing peek-a-boo (she holds one hand over one eye and stares wide-eyed at you with the other eye), then she'll squeal, then she'll wave and say bye-bye. Berkley is sweet tempered and likes to cuddle more, one of his favorite things is to play with my hair. Berkley just learned to clap, which is precious to watch. Both babies play patty cake and when one starts the other one is soon to follow. They've both learned to put their hands over their mouth and go ah (I call it an Indian call, but I don't want to be politically incorrect). They definitely recognize the people they see on a regular basis, i.e. daddy, mommy, grandmothers, Papa and Nana. They'll lean in to you to let you kiss them. They're eating so many different foods now. They've tried every fruit and vegetable that canned baby foods have to offer, I haven't tried the meat varieties of baby food though. They've also tried lots of table foods including Nana's cheese and macaroni, spaghetti, and chicken casserole, but by far their favorite snack is plain old cheerios. We've also purchased their next car seats. I remember how little they were in the infant seats and how it seemed like it was impossible for them to outgrow them. Now here we are, just shy of 10 months later and Berkley's almost at the weight limit for his infant seat. I'm sure I left out so many things that they're doing, but it's so hard to remember them all. Just know that we are so blessed to have these precious gifts. I look at them everyday and realize how blessed I am to have two healthy, thriving babies. Steven and I are so thankful that the Lord saw fit to entrust us with the privilege of being parents and we pray that we will honor Him in our parenting and our marriage.

A day of happenings

Meredith has been nearly crawling (dragging one arm underneath) for a couple of weeks now, but today something just switched on and she is off to the races. I got a little glimpse of it this morning and wanted to share. Also, I went in her room to get her up from a nap and she was just sitting up in bed waving at me when I opened the door. She looked so proud of herself. I've never seen her push herself up from the floor yet, but obviously she can do it. Finally, Meredith is also responding when you ask her to wave. For awhile she's been waving, but not on demand - it seems like it clicked today. Berkley's nearly crawling as well. He's been scooting, but today he's been lifting his butt in the air, it's just a matter of time. Both babies are changing rapidly and my life is about to get crazy!

Full of surprises

As you saw from my previous post, my twins are full of surprises. I leave them alone for a minute and they get into trouble. Today is no exception. I took some clean laundry upstairs to put away later and when I came back downstairs this is what I found. I still don't know how he got in there, but he was mighty proud of himself. (Sigh), I've always got something to laugh about around here:)

Ambushed

So I finally gave in and put up a baby gate between the living room and the dining room. I leave to go to the bathroom and when I get back, this is what I find. Notice Berkley's smug little grin. I think they joined forces and broke down the wall together:) Probably not the last time I'll get tag teamed.

1st Valentine's Day

We had a wonderful Valentine's day full of family. My Uncle Phil, Aunt Jane, their boys, Aunt Gwen and Uncle Norman came to town to celebrate my Nana's 89th birthday, which is officially this Tuesday. I took the babies to Farm Life Saturday night and spent the night so we'd be all ready to celebrate on Sunday. My mom LOVED having her grandbabies at her fingertips:) We also got some wonderful news this week that my Uncle Phil is cancer free!!! It made our celebration all the sweeter to know that Uncle Phil is done with chemo, radiation and can move forward from his battle with cancer. Steven and I aren't necessarily big on Valentine's day, but hearing Uncle Phil's good news and having my wonderful Nana with us were the best Valentine's we could've ever gotten. It made me ponder on how loved we are by family and how blessed we are to have each other to share in life with. The weekend was capped off with a visit from Mima, Hutch and McKinley. The babies were so happy to see their Mima and cousins. What a family-packed weekend:)

Here are a few pictures to share.
